Planning an outdoor wedding is incredibly exciting.
The gardens…The views…The natural light…
It creates a setting that feels effortless, romantic, and beautifully you.
But there’s one question almost every couple asks:
“What happens if it rains?”
And more specifically…
What happens to the music?

✨ First, Don’t Worry
Let us reassure you straight away:
👉 This is something we plan for all the time.
Outdoor weddings are very common, especially across the South West, and with a little preparation, everything can still run smoothly (and beautifully).
🎻 Why Weather Matters for String Instruments
String instruments are delicate and valuable.
They can’t be exposed to:
rain
direct sunlight for long periods
extreme temperatures
high winds
This is because changes in temperature and moisture can affect both the sound and the structure of the instrument.
So while we love performing outdoors…
We do need a few simple things in place.

🌿 What We Need for Outdoor Performances
To perform outside safely and beautifully, we require:
Shelter (gazebo, pergola, umbrella, or similar)
Shade (to protect from direct sunlight)
Level ground
Protection from wind
This ensures:
the instruments stay safe
the sound remains consistent
and the performance is at its best
☔ What If It Rains on the Day?
If rain is forecast, your venue will almost always have a contingency plan.
This might include:
moving the ceremony indoors
using a covered area
relocating to a sheltered space (like near French doors)
We’ll work closely with:
you
your venue
and your planner
To ensure everything adapts seamlessly.

💫 The Key Is Having a Plan
The most important thing isn’t whether it rains…
It’s having a plan in place.
We always recommend:
checking your venue’s outdoor setup options
confirming shelter availability
having a clear indoor backup space
Once that’s sorted, there’s nothing to worry about.
🎶 Will the Atmosphere Change?
This is something couples often worry about.
But honestly?
It doesn’t take anything away.
In fact, some of the most beautiful moments we’ve performed have been:
under soft rain
inside with candlelight
or in cosy, intimate spaces
The atmosphere simply shifts, from airy and open… to warm and romantic.

🎻 Our Approach on the Day
We always:
arrive early (30+ minutes before performance)
liaise with your venue
adapt to any last-minute changes
Our goal is to make everything feel:
seamless
stress-free
and completely taken care of
So you can simply enjoy your day.
💍 Outdoor Ceremonies vs Drinks Receptions
It’s also worth noting:
Ceremonies usually require the most planning (as timing is fixed)
Drinks receptions are more flexible and easier to adapt
This is another reason many couples choose:
👉 ceremony + drinks reception (Gold Package)
It allows for more flexibility if plans need to shift.
🌸 A Little Rain Doesn’t Change the Magic
It’s easy to focus on the “what ifs”…
But the truth is, your wedding day will still feel:
beautiful
emotional
unforgettable
Rain or shine.
And with the right planning, your music will be just as magical.

✨ Let’s Plan It Together
