What is a String Duo?
A string duo traditionally consists of two musicians: a violinist and a cellist. At Serenity String Duo, we proudly perform as this classic combination, bringing a rich and harmonious sound to various events. Occasionally, we expand our performances to include other musicians, allowing us to explore different ensemble configurations, such as a violin duo or a violin-viola duo.
Who Performs in Serenity String Duo?
Serenity String Duo is comprised of two passionate musicians: Katja, who plays the cello, and Laura, who plays the violin. As sisters, we share a deep love for music and performance, and we thrive on creating memorable experiences for our audiences.

What Sets a String Duo Apart from a String Quartet?
The primary distinction between a string duo and a string quartet lies in the number of performers, as well as the volume and richness of sound. While a quartet consists of four musicians, our duo arrangement is carefully crafted to produce a full and captivating sound. We skillfully adapt our arrangements to ensure that each song maintains its melody, harmonic progressions, bass notes, and rhythmic elements. Our aim is to create a magical atmosphere that enchants guests while keeping our services affordable.

Can We Book a Larger Ensemble?
If you're interested in expanding the musical experience, we offer the option to upgrade to a larger ensemble upon request. Popular choices include string trios and string quartets, allowing you to tailor the music to suit your event’s needs.
Who Performs in Your Larger Ensembles?
When you choose a larger ensemble, you can expect the same level of professionalism and artistry. We collaborate with a network of talented musicians, all of whom are graduates from some of the UK’s top music conservatoires. Our string trio and quartet members, as well as any deputies who may step in if needed, are experienced freelance musicians dedicated to delivering exceptional performances.
